Jim and Bob,

I have to read AMD thread about their interpretation of the rumors that IBM is going to be making K6 chips.

But my first reaction is that things must be out of hand at AMD with their yields and .25 process. Why would they otherwise have their main fab semi-idle with all the expensive equipment depreciating quickly not generating sufficient revenue?

My first reaction at this point would be to sell (or short) AMD.

I don't think IBM is a low cost producer. The deal may be to AMD's disadvantage if it is similar to Cyrix deal. If IBM will get to make say 1 for 1 chip, AMD just lost a customer. If IBM will have rights to sell "IBM K6", they will undercut AMD prices. So far, K6 prices have held up quite nicely. When IBM will start dumping the chips, the prices will collapse.
