I have seen some news articles on the air traffic control - Y2K situation. The FAA and IBM have been arguing about whether or
not the FAA's 3083 mainframes would be upgraded to be Y2K compliant.

If memory serves, IBM won ("we're not going to do it"), and hence the FAA will be buying new systems.
