You seem to be right.

Just the procedure:

Big sellers do not generally place a large order on screen. They can privately talk to an MM for a market order. If a large block were to sell, the MM would basically keep lowering the price until it the block got sold in small lots. The MM is required to enter all blocks he sales in his book. But, this may not appear on computer screens. I am describing what can happen. But, I too do not believe the 410k was a block sell.

Reason for yesterday's fall:

The basic reason for the fall in BOST price was that ML's downgrade and today's WSJ story were available to some investors.
