Scumbria,

Why shouldn't TSMC do the same?

It was a preset target by authorities that TSMC "must" fabricate the advanced x86 processors in Taiwan at whatever the costs due to long term prosperity strategy.

The recent fabrication agreements/contracts with NSM, TSMC just signed with their biggest customer to absorb the full IC outputs of their 10 giant fab plants for the next decade.

TSMC is guided not to compete with their customers. If you wish to speculate who would compete with TSMC's customer on x86 processor, it would have to be UMC!

UMC has done this with their um486DX. Intel has beaten them in court. If AMD does not farm their K family with UMC, UMC would be back in x86 business to compete with TSMC in other way.

Don't buy Intel processors! In stead, buy the processors from its competitors to keep Intel from long-term monopolizing x86 processor market while maintaining health competition and the PC innovations.
