In business, nothing is really free. You may think you got advertise information of a product is free, but as soon as you buy the product that is been advertised, those money for free info is paid back. I think it is similar for those free samples, free products. If you get an instruction product free and never come back to buy related products, then it is free. For example, I used to see those encyclopedia sells, the 1st volume is free, the 2nd is 9c, the 3rd is 99c and the rest is $4.99 each. I did pick up the first two volumes for 9c and never come back to buy the whole volumes when I was a student. But the corporation business is not like that.

As for IE for Unix, I think some companies may want cross-platform clients in order to buy your server, people like the whole package, so IE for Unix may play an important role in this whole package.
