The number I keep getting when asking about the "cut" our chain gets from coinstar is 3%. This is probaly negotiated on a chain to chain basis. Placement fees for machines whether vending or small refrigerated units are usually on a yearly basis. The best store we have is using 2 coinstar machines processing 80,000.00 dollars per month. This is a high volume (over a million a week) store. So. it seems to me they are well worth it to the stores. The good thing is you can stick it in a corner, hole, whatever, as it is not an impulse item like a soda unit is. When you bring in a bag of coins you have to look for it, right? The spot we use had nothing there before. By the way, the time i saw the machine full was a Monday at 9am. Bank was there at 10. We being a 24 hr. 7 day operation it could easily fill over a weekend. These machines are no problem, want to hear about problems, lets talk can and bottle machines for deposits, a nightmare!
