Just returned from Yorkton's "Diamonds in Alberta" presentation at the Westin hotel in Calgary. They certainly spared no expenses, lots of food and drink.Yorkton's mining analysts, Art Ettlinger and A. Leishmen both spoke, and they talked of all the juniors in the play,
with no new insights.John Austin was much more enlightening, while bringing us up to date on Ashton's progress, he also showed some impressive slides of recent diamond finds. One slide showed approx. 15
diamonds from K-14, very impressive.He also showed the .77 fancy from K-6. Someone in the audience asked it if it was true that it was appraised at $50,000, but he denied that.
He stressed that gem quality was more important than carat/ton , though he would give no insight as to Ashton's gem quality thus far.
There were no surprises, Mr. Austin told us nothing new(at least those of us that read SI).
