James, being someone who was thinking about entering the auction(not really),I would not have bid on San Fran or Chicago. There is lots of competition there from incumbent wireline telecom companies. Also 21st Century is building a state of the art fiber optic network in Chicago. San Fran is the original site of @Home,and will have ADSL soon. Also the terrain of San Fran leaves much to be desired, not many line of site areas, and it would be hard to have 100% coverage. The place to be in the Southwest, where there is little rainfall, flat terrain, and lots of territory to cover. I would bid on Phoenix first,Albuquerque second, and Las Vegas third myself. Then I would bid on mid sized cities in the South.
