Ditto, Susan.

SI is a forum. And like it or not it is a sampling of our society. A sampling made up primarily of people who have an interest in investing and in the opinions of others with that same interest. In life, we don't have the option of clicking an "ignore button" if we decide we want a particular person to stop talking.

SI has been unique in that people express themselves in a normally intelligent, uninhibited way. Establishing a method to allow people to automatically and mindlessly ignore anything a selected person says, stifles that forum. You can run, but you can't hide from the views of others.

There are attacks which society as a whole agrees are unacceptable. These types of attacks include slanderous, racial, or flagrant verbal assaults. Obvious abuses like these should be reported. I've seen chat rooms with links allowing users to immediately report abuses. I know that the operators of SI have temporarily "grounded" certain users from posting when there have been abuses of SI's code of conduct.

Don't "kill" SI, let it continue to evolve.
