Shane,

And I thought I was the only one up!
It's amazing to witness the convergence of so many different technologies with DVD. The compact disc, CD-ROM, VCR and
as you suggest now, game console machines. Certainly it makes a
lot of sense. It's sort of like those late night infommercials
on TV trying to sell a kitchen appliance that supplants a blender, food processor, hand mixer and juicer in one. Spend $200 for DVD instead of
$150 for the CD-player, $150-200 for the VCR, etc., etc. But if you ever watch kids play with these consoles, Sony is going to have to make the thing pretty darn durable!

I am willing to bet you money that you are right...What a way to get people to buy your DVD sets over others! BTW, Sony announced that they
have shipped their 30 millionth Playstation. Simply amazing :)

Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) announced milestone for PlayStation
last week, saying it had shipped 30-millionth game console since Dec. 1994
debut. SCE passed 20 million mark last Aug. N. America is top region with 10.75
million (53% of 32/ 64-bit console market share), followed closely by Japan at
10.65 million (57%), Europe at 8.6 million (65%). Software sales are at 199
million: Japan, 90 million (65%); N. America, 59 million (56%); Europe, 50
million (60%).
