You are wrong about Intel keeping AMD under their thumb and "turning the screws" on pricing. Intel is accountable to shareholders and they will not "turn the screws" at shareholders expense. If they chose to lower their pricing (with a larger die size I might add), they would suffer more than AMD since they are shipping 10 times the volume. Their high profit margins would drop. Shareholders have come to expect a very high rate or return and anything less would severely impact the Intel stock price.
