I think we look at HUM and see a tech co. with good balance sheet, good growth and low multiples. I don't know what others are looking at but sometime it seems the funds could be better deployed else where. As for acquisition, you are right. Who knows, the market might not like big acquisition.

As for IBM buying Business Object, I am sure it was just a wishful thinking on BOBJY thread. Nothing tangible was ever announced.

You don't bundle products like these as an interim measure. Few people have argued that these products will become commodity. They don't know what they are talking about. Deploying these product in a co. takes fair amount of time and effort and training. Once co. pick these products, they become well entrenched and dislodging them is not a trivial issue. From Training to other issues, cost a lot of money. IBM wants to I guess sell the back end DB2 servers and other products and looks like by picking two major independents in BI tools, they are certainly endorsing them.
