Not so fast Caxton! Rule number one was "Don't tell people everything you know". But you didn't put number two in there. Now you tell people royalties are 2 - 5%. That makes me think rule number two is "Tell people things you don't know."

I saw that 2-5% were the numbers bandied about for the latest European attempt at nicking off with Qualcomm's software, but I've never seen anything to suggest that is the price they charge existing licensees. In fact, I thought it was a bit nearer 6 or 7% based on Korea payments. Those seem like small numbers, but when 3 billion people have about 5 cdmaOne using appliance/gadgets each and they pay Qualcomm a dollar or two or more for each gadget, that is going to be more billions than fit on my calculator.

This is real money. Don't forget that cdmaOne and the related IPR of Qualcomm doesn't stop at the odd cellphone here and there.

It is fashionable to say that royalties don't matter, unless you are squealing like a pig because Qualcomm won't give you free use of their property. Why do the European and Korean pigs squeal if royalties are so trivial? They even claim it will slow or stop cdmaOne. Fat chance.
