Another Gateway/DVD press release. $2500 for a 333 MHz Pentium II with a DVD-II drive. No word on the decoder..........

Gateway Delivers High-End Performance to $1,999 & $2,499 Consumer
PC Line

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 1998--

Feature-rich multimedia systems attract first-time Gateway customers

Gateway 2000, Inc. (NYSE: GTW), today announced new high-end consumer desktop configurations which reaffirm the
company's leadership role in providing robust multimedia Pentium(R) II PCs at high-demand price points. These new offerings
include the G6-300 Best Buy for $1,999 and G6-333 Best Buy for $2,499.

"Our research has shown that customers have decided to purchase these systems based on recommendations, the reputation
and the quality of our product and system price," said Bart Brown, vice president of marketing for Gateway Direct. "Gateway
customers have found that our high-performing systems meet the wide range of their computing needs, including demanding
software applications for finance, education, gaming and their growing Internet usage."

G6-300 BEST BUY for $1,999: The G6-300 features a 300MHz Pentium II processor based on Intel's 440LX chipset. The
system includes a 17" (15.9" viewable) EV700 monitor, 4MB AGP graphics accelerator, 4GB Ultra ATA hard drive,
Telepath(R) modem for Windows with x2(TM) Technology, 32MB of SDRAM, wavetable audio with Altec Lansing(R)
speakers, a 13x minimum/32x maximum CD-ROM drive and also features the software necessary for Gateway's fast and
easy gateway.net(SM) Internet services.

Gateway research has shown that an overwhelming majority of customers who have purchased systems at these price points
were new customers to Gateway. 93% of customers who have purchased $1,999 PCs and 87% of customers who have
purchased $2,499 systems were new customers to Gateway.

"There has been a lot written about the sub-$1,000 PC market, but systems in this category only accounted for 21% of all
PCs sold to consumers in the U.S. last year," said Bill Ablondi, Consumer Computing Analyst, IDC/LINK. "Our research
shows that 20% to 25% of home buyers are currently shopping in the $2,000 to $2,500 price range. Gateway's pricing is
directed squarely at these folks who are often "Work-at-Home" users and "Intense Gamers". The G6-333 is likely to catch
some of the "Upgraders" who are planning to spend at least $2,500."

G6-333 BEST BUY for $2,499: The G6-333 features a 333MHz Pentium II processor based on Intel's 440LX chipset. The
system includes a 17" (15.9" viewable) EV700 monitor, 4MB AGP graphics accelerator, 6.4GB Ultra ATA hard drive,
Telepath(R) modem for Windows with x2(TM) Technology, 64MB of SDRAM, wavetable audio with Boston Acoustics(R)
MicroMedia(TM) speakers, a DVD II ROM drive and comes with the software necessary for Gateway's fast and easy
gateway.net(SM) Internet services.

"Gateway's true build-to-order model has given us the ability to provide PCs to a wide spectrum of the market," said Brown.
"The G6-300 Best Buy and the G6-333 Best Buy, along with our entry-level $1,499 G5-233, provide a variety of computing
platforms at very compelling price points."

G5-233 for $1,499: The G5-233 is powered by a 233MHz Pentium(R) processor with MMX(TM) technology and features
a 15" EV500 (13.9" viewable) monitor, 2MB graphics accelerator, 2GB harddrive, Telepath modem for Windows with x2
Technology, 16MB of RAM, wavetable audio with Altec-Lansing speakers, 13x/32x CD-ROM, a Canon(R) BJC(R)-4300
color ink jet printer and includes the software necessary for Gateway's fast and easy gateway.net(SM) Internet services.
