Biggest worries:
At last! Some negatives to disect in peace and quiet. Let's see now.
1. their books are cooked, and their numbers are not nearly as good as they say. Given all the hype that has gone on about comparisons with DoubleClick, this would be a disaster.
Yup, that's a negative alright! We cannot do anything about this now, only be critical of all details when they're on the table.
2. why have the mm's gone to a company trading at $30+ with a ridiculous P/E over 120, and overlooked a company with better technology and better financials? Doesn't add up.
Uh, IMO, it does... DCLK has sent out prospects, toured fund people and basically done the full dog & pony show. It has payed a big part (20%? And no, I haven't read their prospect.) of the money raised to just perform the mechanics of their IPO. Since there is no visible competition to the fund people, their new understanding of the web ad thing says 'buy DCLK - web ads will explode'.
This is a good thing for NETZ. They have gotten the road paved for them. They don't need to educate fund managers and financial institutions to the same degree that DCLK did. NETZ can basically just walk in and say 'we're like DCLK but with better R&D, better financials [I hope :)], and we're a lot more fun to have around.'. Having a reference eases penetration of Wall Street.
NETZ has moved onto the radar of most all money people by now. They are looking for the financials and the level of support the stock has without them in it.
3. Why have I not seen NETZ technology (sesame, WYW) on the web sites of the companies they claim to have on board?
My guess is that you have but not the new stuff. I have once got their 'TV-quality' to work for me way back. Since I am hooked up via modem it didn't work smoothly while loading the thing. But when cached it worked nicely. Higher connection speeds in general may be a prerequeisite for seeing those types of ads all over the net.
And, no, I don't think they should hold the demos back anymore, if that is the case. The world has been ready to see them for a while.
Maybe our 'posse on the case' [the car full of SI investors driving towards NETZ right now] can get some 'inside' on this issue.
4. Why is their own web site so relatively lame, and still under construction? Seems this would be the first thing they would want to have up and running, since this is the vehicle for their products.
I think it is more like it is about to be forgotten altoghether with the 'move' to the new zulu-tek domain. I think they are sprucing their site up in-house so that it will make as big an impression as possible. We'll see when it happens. Other than that I think your point is valid.
I'm sure I could think of some more, but that is enough.
Good points! Now, do you have any comments on my comments? Others are welcome to join in too. |
