The bandwidth is coming. I'm particularly excited about satellite-based technology, such as Direct PC and SkyCache (not yet available).

I have the good fortune to have a friend in one of the largest telco's over here. He is in their research dept. By talking to him I am fairly certain that ISDN, satellite and a few other technologies are going to be fads. The big guys money is on [A]DSL or other things that use existing copper lines. Problem is only that it doesn't work as well in practice as in the lab. It is just not possible to get the advertized rates of several megabits even on lines with mild loads on them without x-talk eating into the audio bandwidth. A lot of money is thrown at the problem and it will be solved. I might just take a little longer is all.

Keep an open mind (in both directions) and keep any thoughts coming.
