Scott, What I've been doing is
1. Open 2 new windows in Explorer, goto Stockwatch for free quotes and put 10 symbols in each window. Then click for quote and backpage, then click for updated quote. (this way I get 10 quotes, with bid/ask and latest news released date.
2. I use Carlson for news, they are great.

CanTrust was mentioned earlier for free quotes, tble they do not have news dates or bid ask.

I use Microsoft investor for US(only good if you use Explorer)you get a nice ticker across the bottom of the screen, up/down but no volume.

I also use pointcast, older version to monitor stocks, for real time quotes I call greenline and use their telemax. Scott
