So you have a total of 10 disks. At what point would you think of buying an additional Hard Drive? Yes depends on your purpose. You may have plenty of hard drive space.. I don't know.. But at some time,do you say that over the next 2 years I'll need 10 more disks Approx cost $150, or do you spend $200 for a cheap 1.6 gig drive, have 1.6 times the storage space, much quicker.

My basic agrement is: If your using the ZIP for portability. There would be a relatively small number of disks which you would want to do this with, correct? I really don't see someone using many more than 10 disks for portability issue. The amount of time to transfer, so on.. It's like using floppies with a Hard drive 10 years ago, Isn't?

And if its for additional storage space, the price of a medium size HD is really attractive, is it not? I think this is another issue for IO. That is alternatives, including HD are getting cheaper all the time, yet the ZIP disks have been almost fixed for the past year and 1/2...

Again. Maybe my needs are not ordinary. I find the ZIP too small. And the Jaz to expensive/slow for the performance received..

On the thought that the JAZ is too expensive. If you pay 359 for the drive / 1GB, add 3 disks and your at $650. Close to the price of a cheap SCSI 4GB HD.. Again the write speed of the HD is many multiples of the JAZ.

The JAZ does have the portability. I do not deny this. Again though @ a price. An external HD might do the trick...

Simply too expensive as a backup option.

Just some thoughts..
