An FDA approval is necessary- they would use something called a 510K submission. They are required to show that the test is effective, that they can adequately manufacture the test kit/device, and that they have acceptable marketing claims or labeling.

So, the approval process is lengthy, but not nearly as long as it is for a drug. In addition, we don't (I don't at least) know how far along they are in the development of the product. They could be just starting, or they could be pretty far along. They expect to announce a collaboration with 'a significant cytopathology laboratory' soon, so perhaps they have a working viable product already?

The press release also said that they are working on a lung therapeutic agent- this will take years before any potential payoff, unless of course they can license it and get some kinda royalties.

All in all, I'd be surprised to see any revenue for at least a year of so (from Biomoda), although the billboards may start generating revenue soon.

I find it hard to think that one could go wrong for a $0.40 stock - my wild guess prediction (with nothing to back it up!) is $1.00 by the end of 1998, then it rockets upward in early 1999.
