Bill, I've heard comments like this so many times in the last 8 months:

<<Amazon prices for technical books seem routinely super-high compared to Barnes & Noble.>>

Today I went to Barnes and Noble and looked at these two books: Managing your Business with QuickBooks by Chas. Rubin and QuickBooks 5 for Dummies by Nelson. The cost with tax would have been $42.33. I thought, "naw, I'll go home and order over the net."

After reading your comment I went to BKS first. The total $35.95 + $4.90 for shipping = $40.85. Then I went to AMZN, the total $31.95 + $4.90 = $36.85.

Please check behind me. It's one thing to not like a company because you're short and losing money. It's another thing to be in denial.

BTW, John Doerr just gave AMZN a great plug on Nightly Business Report. He's with Kleiner, Perkins and an AMZN board member, so naturally he's bias, but it was a great plug on a highly visible spot!
