I believe Gordon Moore's Ph.D. was in chemical engineering from CalTech. I am pretty sure that Andy Grove's Ph.D. was in chemical engineering from Berkeley. Noyce's Ph.D. was from MIT, but Tim Jackson doesn't say in what (in Inside Intel).
