Gentlemen/ladies: my 2c fwiw. Just about to send in my app. to Waterhouse. They seem to fit my needs - good executions and confirmations from what I can tell, internet presence, reasonable prices. I don't do puts/calls/options. Waterhouse seems to be a better deal and (from what I can find) as good service as my current expensive discount broker. Today's mail brings notice from Brown of their internet trading at $5 per trade ($10 with limit orders.) I know they are very professional (whatever that means -g-) but also a little stiff regarding customer service or frills. Okay with me though. Price seems worth it. Very hard for me to turn down. Been following posts of Steve Goldman of Yammer investments who can make a pretty good case for paying a little more on commissions but in return also getting something - better executions or price improvements and someone to assist in working through specific your specific requirements (e.g. place order immediately, or work it for best price during the day). Sorry I can't recap argument correctly, but STILL, very hard for me to turn away limit trading at $10 per pop. As I say, posting here FWIW---knowing we're all different with different needs and requirements.
Good trading! Paul Senior
