I believe this company to have top management. They are expecting the worse and are quite frank about it to the public. They are unlike some companies I have held in the past, like ASND. Where everything is just great until 2 weeks before earnings. You get the "exexpected order cancellation" type notice. What is the better scenerio?

1. Management saying that thus far the slow down is minimal, and do not expect it to get much worse.

or

2. We are expecting growth to be flat over the next three quarters.

In the first case, you get some really Pi**ed off investors if the truth comes out. In the second case, even the slightest improvement looks great for the stock, and even the possibility of surprise earnings. The worst case scenerio is, things are as they were told to the public.

I've come to this conclusion because of the downward revision of earnings, yet maintain buy ratings on the stock. This is classic! If you can't see it, you're blind. I want to thank the analysts for making it easier for AMAT to beat earnings. It's happened with Intel many times fold. Face it, if institutions are in love with a stock like AMAT or Intel, there's no stopping it.
