Mike: It is important to know who made the upgrade and what has been their history and relationship with the company. Is their a reason why they want to encourage movement of the stock price? What is their current position with the stock? Were they involved in prior VVUS stock offerings?

For example, I would be more impressed if analyst "Mike Dubis" announced a strong buy position as opposed to analyst "EyeDrMike".
