Some news stories I noticed that might affect CRUS:

- INTC announced licensing agreement with ARM for StrongARM
processor core. Digital was developing a chip that was
basically a faster version of the ARM-based handheld chip
that Cirrus currently offers. This could hurt prospects,
but it could also provide more visibility for the ARM-based
platform, with Cirrus concentrating on lower-end designs
in the handheld/internet market. Didn't one of Apple's
Newton products have a StrongARM processor in combination
with a Cirrus chipset?

- Apple announced it has stopped production of Newton-based
products. They used the chips mentioned above. Not really
material. Cirrus now sells mainly to Psion.

- HP is to announce mainstream PII desktop PC's next week.
Given that HP selected the CL-GD5465-AGP graphics chip
in their in their low-end Kayak workstations (little
volume), it would make sense to see it in these high-volume
models, if they use AGP graphics and Cirrus has a milligram
of respectability left at HP. It would be a joke to
see the chip in a workstation but not in a mainstream PC.

- It was reported that Rockwell's K56Flex chipset does not
support the new V90 56kbps and K56Flex at the same time.
Can Cirrus' chipset support x2 and V90 at the same time?
This may provide additional opportunities for 56kbps
design wins.
