I don't know exactly why he thinks this but if true it sure could affect the profitability of Compaq.

The downgrade comes right on the
heels of Compaq's decision to spend almost $10
billion on Digital Equipment (which has the honor
of being the second worst-performing U.S. stock
over the past ten years).

This came from a streetlife article I posted a couple of days ago. If DEC was that big a loser as a stock sure makes sense it could slow us down a bit.
