Ventura Stages a Comeback
Resurrection isn't easy, but Corel may finally do it with version 8 of its Ventura desktop publishing program. Ventura was moribund when Corel bought the application from Xerox. Corel's efforts with version 7 were promising, but the best is yet to come. Based on the late beta of Ventura 8 that I tested, the program still surpassed its competition--QuarkXPress, PageMaker, and Publisher--in creating the long, structured documents that make businesses go 'round. Upgraders from version 7 will find the new Ventura to be a lot faster and rich in useful, convenient features. The final version of Ventura 8 is due to ship in June
