Sorry, sorry, sorry... Teaching post, here... I use Metastock and scan, from time to time, for possible short play (by looking for stocks that have a recent good run up... but exibit a drop in trading volume... I do that when the general market seems to be overextended as well....
I know nothing about EXPD but shorted it early this week, at $42, purely on technical analysis reasons:
(a) it did not look that EXPD could beat the high of October (bearish)
(b) the great recent run looked to be exausted (drop in volume)
(c) many sells signals during the second week of February
(d) after such a run, EXPD was "overbought" (T.A. data)
(f) the stock market is fragile
(g) transportation index is weak
I may be completely wrong because this stock market is climbing and climbing...
Just wanted to let this board know that after some good runs, some might sell (to lock a profit) and some like me might short as well. I am a small investor, with limited funds and I am learning... and shorted only 50 shares...
I know, I know... nobody like "shorts: but selling a position in a stock, let's face it, is playing against the stock as well.
Good luck all.
Gaston
