Hi Susan, The first step would be to accept God's redemption through His Son Jesus. This can be the beginning of getting closer to God. After that step the next one is to renew our minds with the word. Read the New Testament, study and meditate on it. What you don't understand pray about and wait on the answer. The Holt Spirit will teach you if you listen. And don't be deceived, everything must conform to the word. If it does not, then don't believe it. Pray and talk to Jesus and fellowship with Him.
