Jim Mendelson, who follows Oracle for SoundView Financial Group, said
several factors combined to prop up the stock. He said comments from
Chief Executive Larry Ellison about two weeks ago suggesting that
Wall Street had become too bearish on the company's business helped
lay the groundwork for buying.

Ellison said late last month that Oracle's third-quarter database sales would grow 25% year over year in North America.

The following two news about ORCL confirms Ellison's positive comments:

1. Redwood Shores, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Darigold Inc., a Northwestern
dairy coorperative, expects to save more than $46 million over the
next five years after implementing Oracle Corp.'s Oracle CPG, a software system designed for the consumer packaged goods industry.

2. Info World Names Oracle8(TM), Oracle(R) Application Server Database
and Server Software Products of the year.
Oracle8's Enterprise Manageability, Performance, Scalability and
Object-Relational Support Praised as Key Attributes Oracle Application
Server Commended for Robust Scalability, Fault Tolerance, Strong
Transaction Management Support and Server-Side Application Capabilities.
