RE: $600Million for 1998

Interesting.Any clue how many miles of fiber this will get them?

I had been thinking that Level 3 should be able to lay the fiber really cheaply since they should realize efficiencies/economies of scale with their Kiewit construction biz.

Last year I recorded the following $/mile construction stats from a Montgomery Securities Telecomm conference:

---------------------------------- IXC--------------QWST----------

Construction cost per mile------- $23,600 --------$29,300

I wonder how Level 3 costs will compare to these?
