RE: "When I read the Bible it's seems I find that when it talks of good and bad acts/people I seem to find myself thinking as myself as the bad person and not the good."
We are all sinners (i.e., "bad people"). Human nature is to be bad. Only God is truly good. But Jesus knows that we are bad, and still loves us and offers us forgiveness for being bad. Think about it - Jesus' purpose on earth was to pay for our sins. He loved and forgave the prostitutes, murderers, and the worst sinners around.
If you believe in and truly love Jesus and allow His love to work in your life, He will go to God the Father on judgement day and say: "Don't worry about Nails, I already took the punishment for his sins. Nails loves Me and this love makes him perfect in My eyes." God the Father will say, "Great! I want Nails to be with Me forever!"
Remember, the Bible says, "All have sinned ..." If someone tries to tell you that he is not a sinner, don't believe him.
RE: "Is this my imagination? a trick of the devil?"
It must be a trick of the devil. In fact, it is probably the most common trick that the devil uses. Many of my non-believer friends and acquaintances think that one must be good to get to heaven. They think Christians are just hypocrites who are acting good but are really sinners. Well, these people are certainly correct when they observe that the "church-goers" are sinners. After all, why would someone need Jesus' forgiveness if he's not a sinner?
RE: "Turned from God for several years, but taken my family to church for past few weeks."
I really haven't turned from God, but I'm trying to find a good church to attend. So far, I went to one church for the past two Sundays. I think I'll try another one next Sunday. I want to find a church where the pastor preaches on God's love and forgiveness from sins. How did you decide which church to go to? Are you going to try several churches to find one where God's presence is evident?
I want to find a church where I can tell that God is speaking to me and where I can praise and glorify Him without feeling weird.
Best wishes,
