Map of the Human Heart, from 1993, is on HBO in the wee morning hours of March 3 and March 16. It left me profoundly moved after the first time I saw it, a couple of years ago. It is a very romantic love story, and epic in scope of time and geography, covering 1931 to the sixties, and geographically from an Inuit Eskimo boy's home in the Arctic Circle to World War II in England and Germany.
Map of the Human Heart is directed by New Zealander Vincent Ward, from an original story of his, and stars Jason Scott Lee and Anne Parillaud. Patrick Bergin has a prominent role, and John Cusack and Jeanne Moreau have small parts. I recommend you tape it, and check it out. It is an unforgettable film. |
