Ron,
I guess I shouldn't tell you about my trip to Hong Kong and Shenzhen, then, that would really be holding out, right? Just kidding, but I am semi-seriously thinking of a due diligence road trip to visit DSWLF, RADAF, HIHOF, ZNDTY, BNSOF and a few others I have my eye on in that vicinity. Anybody want to join me?
Mr. Lau seemed to be a straight shooter, no-nonsense, confident CEO, with decent but not great English. Mr. Seung is their American lawyer, didn't say much. Mr. Lam, their marketing director, is younger, spoke English well, and seemed very upbeat.
At the time, I think Mr. Koo was still a DSWLF shareholder, though he had sold some shares by then. I had also attended the NTAIF annual meeting earlier that year, so this was the second time I had met him. I specifically asked him if he was going to sell more DSWLF shares, and he told me no, he liked Deswell. In the elevator on the way down after the meeting, Mr. Koo put his arm around Mr. Lau, and said to me "see, we are great friends", at which point Mr. Lau said "who is this guy, I don't know him". I liked Mr. Lau's sense of humor (but maybe he wasn't kidding, since Mr. Koo sold his shares shortly thereafter) :-)
No mention of Inter-Tel that I recall, though as I said the talk was of a Kwanasia expansion, which would be the subsidiary that Inter-Tel would use. That press release about expansion was subsequent to the meeting.
