I'd have to say Murphys calls often work out in the long term. But he has historically been willing to buy stuff really early and wait. IDTI is a good example: He called it more than a year ago, but it's taken until now to come around. OTOH, if you bought it on his recommendation, you've made about 100% for waiting.

He's certainly had lots of bad calls, just like most analysts. He's been particularly prone to buying small undercapitalized stocks with nice technology but no way to do anything with it. These rarely go anywhere, and MM is now saying he won't bother with companies below 100M capitalization.

He's pretty good at his sell points. Called the last top pretty well and advised market puts. Got out of INTC 1/2 point off the high, then bought back below 75.

I like his qualitative analysis, but have come to think that often his recommendations are best when used a year after he comes out with them.
