I did some comparisons between Quantum's DLT drives and Exabyte's Mammoth drive and here are the results:

Mammoth - current version supports 20 GB uncompressed with a 3 MB/sec transfer rate
Quantum's DLT - 4000 offers 20 GB uncompressed with a 2.5 MB/sec transfer rate

Subsequent versions of the Mammoth will offer 40 GB and eventually 80 GB all uncompressed versions to be released "this decade".

I guess the difference between the two drives is price, with the speed edge to Exabyte.

Any differing opinions?

I got the data directly from newswires of each company
