It's not really a hardware issue but one of: which machine will you need in order to view the movies you want? If Divx (DVDplus) succeeds in capturing the key new releases such as Titanic, it will kill DVD sales, overnight.

Frankly, I'm not overly impressed with Divx quality and its other tech specs, as presently released. Much rather see a HD-Divx, HD-DVD and/or HD-VCR player simultaneously introduced with HDTV sets (as I recall, LGE has licensed the tech for a HD-VCR). Then, when you buy your new Zenith 64" HDTV projection set and HD-VCR (personal preference), you could have an ample supply of HD-VCR prerecored movies to enjoy and be able to record HD programming (sporting events, flics, live events, etc.)for future playback in full-blown 1080i and Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

Why does the CE believe it most take incremental mini-steps when the tech exists for revolutionary change?
