Grasshopper,

I was reading a board on Yahoo for OO recently. One posting made a lot of sense. When is a better time to come out with new shoes or enter a highly competitive market than when everyone else's business is sucking so badly? Nike is going to be choked with stale inventory for a while and their labor problems are a reported negative on their stock price. The other manufacturers like nike have been diversifying for a while now. I believe this move is a step for OO to receive some much needed identity in the world of sporting goods. I say that because the mass public doesn't flock to your stock if you can only say you are in high end sunglasses. I have been thinking that their timing was wrong for the announcement of the shoes because of the subsequent stock price dip. But they were consistently in the mid 12's when they announced the shoe and if it had been lower, they stood the risk of dropping so low as to scare off everyone. I doubled my stake in OO the day they announced the shoe. MY timing was bad not theirs. Still, I am cost averaged at 10 7/16 and feel ok about it. I probably wouldn't have felt so good about it in December if I had been asked. I still believe they need a vehicle to bring the face shield (the product from the company they bought last year) to the mass market. No better place than cycling, roller blading and skiing(helmet sports)IMHO. They may indeed have a plan but I'll bet it doesn't appear until after they've milked the shoe thing for a while. More power to 'em and to us for that matter. Hope things are well in Hawaii.

Greg
