In case you missed it on the CPQ thread, I just blamed DEC for bringing CPQ down over there. I tried to figure out CPQ's movement but even most of the CPQ people couldn't make much sense of it. Then it hit me, CPQ was looking like DEC usually does. Since DEC can easily fade for a whole quarter, this bears close watching. I was in a leveraged position until last week and closed out just before that 250,000 share dump (anyone know who that was?) as the stock started to dip below 60. I was looking for a convincing turn around to buy CPQ shares or cheap options, but it kept fading. With the market surging like it is, there must be a lot of worry about CPQ/DEC to make them fade like that.
Remember, DEC is an S&P 500 stock, and when the market surges, the index funds MUST buy it. I assume likewise for CPQ.
The only good news is the large CPQ short position out there (source: CPQ board). That could help both stocks turn on a dime.
Caveat emptor. Let's be careful out there. Those falling knives can make a soprano out of a bass drum.
