Vela Research LP, a leading provider of video compression products for the cable and broadcast industries, has been selected by nCUBE to provide digital compression solutions for its video servers. The two companies are working together to provide leading edge video-on-demand delivery solutions for business, residential and education environments using nCUBE's family of video servers. In addition, the two companies will be involved in joint sales and marketing efforts.

Vela's encoder, Argus, is the company's solution for the cable and post production markets. This product is a standalone solution with a developer's application programming interface (API) to allow customer customizations. Vela's decoders provide reliable MPEG-2 decoding for all systems using PCI or SCSI based architectures. The decoders can be used for a variety of applications including cable television headend decoding, video training, video kiosks and jukeboxes, and broadcast and post production. Vela's decoders include a four-channel SCSI decoder and CineView-- Vela's low-cost line of PCI-based decoders among others.
