Over the past several weeks I have communicated with quite of few of you and I truly appreciate your thoughts and comments. We struggle with the question of why the stock shows continuing weakness in the face of what appears to be so much good news.

I personally believe we are making a mistake if we continue to blame the Canadian shareholders for the swoon. They apparently got it started when their shares became unrestricted. Since then, however, the process seems to be feeding upon itself. I personally believe now that many who bought at higher levels are leaving out of disappointment, and more are leaving every day.

I am now firmly in the camp which says that EPS is what is
going to drive share prices back up, if they are to be driven back up. Certainly, if Joe Murphy can sell off one or more pieces of the company for the kind of gains he's realized before, this could change in a heart beat. But I don't believe the market, is looking for that to happen. And, the market doesn't yet see significant earnings being derived from operations, either. Until the company proves that it can generate operating profits, the stock will continue to swoon.

Some of you will now quickly point out that ours is an M&A company and the usual rules don't apply. I have to disagree. The market decides what the rules are, and right now the market is not impressed with the M&A argument. We have a lot more work to do to make that argument convincing. I'm still hanging in there, but I'm diversifying to a much greater extent than in recent months!!!! George E.
