Aldila (NASDAQ:ALDA):
ALDA is one of a number of small-cap stocks which are followed by
The Napeague Letter.

On February 5th, ALDA issued a Press Release announcing its 4th
quarter and year-end results for 1997. As previously announced on
November 24th, the Company took a one-time charge of
approximately $1.5 million in the fourth quarter so as to consolidate
the Company's domestic golf shaft manufacturing operations.
Concurrently, it announced that it would expense certain start-up costs
from its new carbon fiber operation in the fourth quarter of 1997
($600,000) and first quarter of 1998 ($300,000). However, even if
these two non-recurring items had not been present, the Company
would still have lost almost $400,000 before taxes, due to reduced
sales volume and declining margins.

I will reassess this Company when I receive a copy of its 10-K Report
for the year.

information and its reports to the Securities & Exchange Commission
