This is a new role? I assume you're suggesting that OS development and production are going to slowly (or perhaps not so slowly?) drop away from Apple.

I guess the other way to look at this is that Macs have long been successful graphics workstations right out of the box, and that the continuing development of the PPC processor and the Mac OS/Rhapsody only makes the computer better able to do something it's always done well. Sure, they've not been up there with SGI, for example, but there's been plenty of testimony in here over the past year from professionals who use Macs for all kinds of graphics production.
