Pat, in answer to your questions on the fax product.

1. Is the new fax server a "scaled down" Tempest with faxing and modem
capability?

A: No, this is a modified Cyclone channel bank. This is not a FAX over IP soloution. ftel.com

2. Can the original Tempest be upgraded to offer the faxing capability offered in the Cyclone-F?

A: a qualified yes. The Tempest is slated to have Fax over IP capabilities that will utilize the F part of the Cyclone F ie the Fax Server Software if required. The Tempest Fax over IP will also be able to take faxes from a standard FAX machine

3. How many ports are on the Cyclone-F?

A:It depends refer to the Cyclone documentation. ftel.com The Cyclone-F is a Cyclone with Fax server software and desktop software.

4. What mix of Voice/Fax/Modem configurations are available?

A: again refer to Cyclone Product page. ftel.com

5. Is it configurable by the end user/customer or do you need to specify your Voice/Fax/Modem requirements at the time of your order?

A: User upgradeable. again refer to Cyclone Product page. (link to come ) ftel.com

6. What is price per port? Is it (Price per port) in line with pricing of Tempest?

A: Not a price per port really.

7. Can the unit be configured with "Voice only" capabilities and be used like a smaller Tempest?

A: No this is a modem channel bank not a VOIP or Fax voer IP soln.

8. Modem only?

A: yes

9. Fax only?

A: No the fax is part of a fax/modem card

10. What is at the transmitting end of the Fax? Does the standard Fax machine just plug into the Cyclone-F and away we go?

A: No. This works like a printer you need to print to the Fax Server like you would a print server .

11. What is required at the receiving end of a fax?

A: Nothing apart from a FAX machine / fax modem.

12. Can you also fax to standard fax machine?

A: For sure

13. Or is the transmitting fax sent to a printable file on a workstation/server connected to the internet and it can be printed at a later time similar to an email with an attachment?

a: No this is a standard fax server, documents sent to it get Faxed out via the Fax modems in the Channel bank

14. Is there a target industry for this product?

A: Need to ask FTEL on this but any company that has execs on the move can use this. Basically if the exec on the move need to fax a document he connects to the internet and then prints the document he wants to the FAX server. This fax server can be ANYWHERE in the world.

If you would like a better explanation of my understanding of how this product works just ask.

Hope this clears up some of your questions. Of course all the abov is as always JMO based on conversations with the company this AM.

Martin Smith.
