Well, I beg to differ, you know nothing of the specialist system. Although it is true that they put up their own money, they are not going to risk their money. Order flow can easily be manipulated or covered-up by the specialist. If you believe that the specialist risk their money, they obviously have done a number on you, just like most of the public. If the specialist money is at risk, is that why their sec filings for the money they money close to 30 mill (in the 1960's) and we all know they're sandbagging that figure.
If you don't think that specialist control the price just look at Chrysler, just a few months ago their was all that bad news about Chrysler and the auto industry in general, and now its hitting new highs because earnings are betting expectations? Which by the way are fixed also. So I suggest that you examine stock price movements and news related to those stock prices a little bit closer and you will see that it makes sense.
