Hi margaret... glad the information was helpful to you.

When I saw the article, I thought it was just such a different slant from the typical information one uses to evaluate a company. Who would ever give a hoot about bond ratings.... Only if you look past the surface of the information and realize what it's saying about a company: its industry leadership, management and financial position.

Merck is just one of those very solid, well managed companies, that prudence guides one to incorporate into their portfolio. With all the market gyrations of technology issues, it's is nice to have some stocks that are defensive, dependable, but still offer solid growth potential.

One can't go wrong with some long holdings in Merck, IMO.
