AFTER THE BELL-Cabletron falls on Q4 forecast
Monday March 2, 5:47 pm Eastern Time

NEW YORK, March 2 (Reuters) - Shares of Cabletron Systems Inc fell one
quarter in early after-hours trading Monday as the company said it
would take hefty fourth quarter charges and expected revenues for the
quarter to be under those of the prior year period, traders said.

Cabletron's stock traded at 13-3/4 after regular trading hours, down
from its unofficial close of 14.

The company said it would take an after tax charge of $1.28 per
share for the closing of its network products business. Cabletron
expects fourth quarter revenues between $305 million and $320 million
compared with $380.6 mln a year earlier.

The networks equipment supplier said it expects an earnings per share
range of break-even to a small loss before non-recurring charges on a
fully diluted basis. The First Call consensus estimate for the quarter
is $0.16 per share.

The New York Stock Exchange reported session one trading volume of
733,200 shares, compared with volume of 656,100 shares during the
Friday session. Session two volume was 1.26 million shares compared
with 82,600 on Friday.

Dealers said most stocks were trading at or near their closing values
over an hour after the close.
