Has anyone out there found an "Easter Egg" yet? Taking a
cue from computer software and game programmers, studios are
being mischievous by hiding items in DVD releases and not
telling anyone. The idea is that serious DVD junkies will
discover these treats and then tell their friends or post
the information to newsgroups on the Internet.

New Line Home Video has included an unadvertised Marilyn
Manson music video in its release of Spawn and a hidden game
in The Lawnmower Man. The packaging offers no clue about
the hidden features, which can only be accessed by
undisclosed remote control commands from the discs' menus.
Check it out on Spawn by clicking the right arrow button on
the soundtrack menu- that's the starting point for your
secret journey. Behind one of the doors is the music video-
the others contain a horde of demons. If you release the
demons four consecutive times, you'll get an animation of
the Clown speaking backwards. If you really want to know
what he is saying, you need to dub the recording and figure
out a way to play it in reverse.

Other titles that have hidden features include MGM's James
Bond titles-Moonraker and Tomorrow Never Dies. Click on the
martini glass in one menu and get some information about
007's favorite adult beverage. There is a lot of
speculation already on the nature of the surprises in
Tomorrow Never Dies, expected to be MGM's most elaborate DVD
to date. Unfortunately, we'll all have to wait another two
months to find out!
