BRITISH AIRWAYS SELECTS AIT'S NEW PAX READER TO AUTOMATE PASSENGER CHECK IN AT U.S. LOCATIONS

AIT also announces US Government Contract
Two deals total $1.64M

OTTAWA, Ont., March 2 /CNW/ - AIT Advanced Information Technologies
Corporation (''AIT'') today announced it has been selected by British
Airways to supply its newly released PAX Readers as part of an
innovative program to increase efficiency and customer service at
passenger check-in points in the United States. The PAX Reader has
the unique capability of capturing the data on a wide range of
documents commonly in use by airlines. The contract is valued at
$875,000.

Brian Reed, AIT's Vice President of ID Products, said ''This is a very
significant order for AIT. As our first major airline sale, it
validates our product in an exciting new market. The airline industry
could be greater than ten times that of our traditional passport
readers, a market in which the Company is the world leader.''

David Erich, British Airways' Senior Vice President Customer Service
USA said, ''We are continuously investigating technology aimed at
enhancing our Customer Service. We believe that the PAX Reader does
this in addition to improving passenger check-in processes, protecting
the customer and British Airways from the use of fraudulent tickets,
and collecting information required by government regulation.''

AIT also announced today it has finalized a reader sale with a US
Government department worth an estimated $760,000.

Both sales will be delivered in the company's current quarter.

Further details were not disclosed.

AIT's vision of supplying 'Innovative Technology for a Safer World'
consists of two business areas: Identification Products in which the
Company is the world's leading supplier of software based systems for
the issuance and inspection of machine-readable travel documents; and
Interactive Security Products where the Company supplies digital
recording and video telesurveillance products for personal and asset
security. AIT stock is traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the
symbol AIV.
