Arnie, Long time no talk to. I moved to a new city and after the move I decided to check out Nextel cellular. My wife moved here first and purchased service and a phone direct from NXTL. I got here 3 months later and called a dealer / rep instead of NXTL to purchase/connect service. Bottom line - the NXTL sales person sold my wife an old phone and claimed it was the best deal - Arnie, the NXTL salesman basically acted like the typical used car salesman and BSed my wife - I was quite upset. I came along and purchased a phone from a dealer - got much better service ( my salesperson brought me my phone - NXTL salesperson required my wife to pick hers up - also, wife's phone had a battery problem 1 month after purchase and NXTL salesperson required her to bring the phone in for replacement) and a much better phone for less money. Bottom line, the NXTL salesperson was not professional - he/she needed to move an older model of phone and used my wife - I take exception to this - in my opinion NXTL is spent - I dumped all shares - I will not do business with a company that treats customers the way my wife was treated.
Also, I filled out a credit report on my company when I purchased the phone. I supplied a Duns and Bradstreet number. After 8 days of delay for me to get my service and phone I had to call them and give them the 1 - 800 number for Duns and Bradstreet. My impression is that NXTL is not very organized - what else can I conclude?
Also, I noticed that each time I activate call forwarding on my office phone to my NXTL phone, the total time is is around 10 secs. All I am doing is dialing 72# on my office phone and keying in my mobile number. When the mobile rings I answer and immediately hit end - couldn't take more than 2 seconds, yet I see 10 to 12 seconds displayed on the total time for the mobile phone. I will continue to investigate this, but based on my experiences with the salesperson,it appears that "air time" is something to be monitored when using NXTL.
Arnie, the way my wife was treated tells me that NXTL doesn't really care about the customer. When a company forgets about the customer they loose market share. In my opinion, NXTL will continue down.
